The MCC Computer Repair and Share Club Mission is to provide working computers to students that need access to technology. With an ever increasing demand for students to utilize technology in their college careers, it becomes evident that may of these students do not have ready access to a personal computer system. Our goal as an on campus club is to provide students in need with technological tools they need to become a successful student and have a more productive educational experience.
[edit] How do we do it?
It's simple really. People make donations to the club and we inspect the systems, clean them up and load Ubuntu on them with full Open Office Suite and then turn them back to students that need them so that they can enjoy the computers and further their education opportunities by having technology at their finger tips.
Steps Involved
- A system is offered to be donated
- The club ensures that the system meets the minimum specifications for a acceptable donation.
- The system is clean and the hard drive is formatted.
- Ubunutu Linux, a very user friendly operating system is loaded with many very useful apps including Open Office, Firefox and gimpImage Editor

- The system is tested to ensure stability and functionality.
- A deserving student picked by way of a application is notified that the system is ready.
- The computer along with free support offered by the club in the form of lessons and availability to answer any questions is passed along to the student.
